Partager and Splitwise

A Splitwise alternative for couples who share a home.

Splitwise is a well-known app for splitting costs in a group: a trip, a house of friends, a night out. Partager does one narrower thing: two people running a home together. Here is how they differ, so you can pick the one that fits.

Who each one is for

Splitwise

Groups, trips and friends

  • Splitting costs among several people, such as a trip or a house of friends.
  • Keeping track of who owes whom across groups and friends.
  • A good fit when the people involved change from one occasion to the next.

Partager

A couple that shares a home

  • Two people, one household: rent, groceries, bills and the occasional big purchase.
  • A month-end close: on the day you pick, one number for who owes whom, instead of a running tab.
  • Split 50/50, by income or a set amount, and change it later without losing your history.
  • Pay-in-4, 0% APR, financing and loans tracked: log a purchase once and each payment lands in the right month.
  • One subscription covers both of you; logging expenses is free, with no limit.

How to choose

Pick Splitwise if you split costs with several people or with friends, or mostly for trips, and the group changes often.

Pick Partager if it is the two of you sharing a home, you want one month-end number instead of a running tab, you split by income, or you buy on Pay-in-4 or a car loan and want every payment in the right month.

Nothing stops you from using both: Splitwise for the trip with friends, Partager for the home you share.

Bring your history

Export your expenses from Splitwise as a CSV file, then import it in Partager.

  1. In Splitwise, export your expenses as a CSV file.
  2. In Partager, open Import and choose the file.
  3. Export your CSV and Partager's AI maps the columns; you review before anything is saved.
  • Check who paid and how each expense was split in the preview. If the file has no single "who paid" column, you choose who paid.
  • Rows Partager cannot read, such as amounts in another currency, are left out and listed in the preview.
  • Expenses from before the date you choose come in as history, outside today's balance, and you can undo the whole import for 7 days.
  • Free: one AI import a month. Plus: unlimited.

What it costs

Log as many expenses as you like, free, forever. Plus is one plan per household: one subscription covers both of you.
